Tips on Wildlife Photography

Firstly to begin with let me tell you wildlife I no wasy thing t0 photograph. It is also very costly because you will need a good telephoto lens wcich lets you keep your distance from wild animals and also a macro lens which lets you get up close to subjects shuch as insects.

This post wil give you some tips to improve your wildlife photography.
Get Close then Get Closer - While photographing subjects that easily get spooked it’s a good idea to first keep your distance and get a photo. If it doesn’t flyff well get closer and then even more closer. Until your completely satisfied. For pictures of butterflies please chack my blog butterflies-of-goa.blogspot.com
Getting as close as possible and then keeping steady- Amnt animals will run off at the sight of a human figure so a good option will be to hide and capture a photograph.  Once you think you have got as close as possibel you should sqat or preferable lay on the ground to maitain stabiliy of your camera.

Hone your skills- Before you go on a wildlife expedition to Africa you should practice in your own neighbourhood.  For example I love to shoot butterflies. Which are seen everywhere so I suggest you do the same. You can improve your skills of approach, framing and other technical kind of skills like exposure, focus and so on.
If you don’t like butteflies just go outside you house and find a good “practice subject” like birds to improve your skills. Then you can move on to bigger and better animals.

Capture action in your frames- Capturing action only comes with a lot of patience. You will have to sit there and look at your subject waiting for the right moment. After you get your shot don’t clebrate, sit down and try to get a better one. Acton in frames would be say an eagle about to take fligh, a frog about to jump, a lion roaring and so on.

Tips on Street Photography

Has this anythime happedng to you? You ask a friend to act very natural while you try to take another shot of them and they just can’t help from staring right at the camera? Ever wondered how the street photographers get such amazing candid pictures? When you look at the pictures of a street photographer.. Well you will see that lost moment where you were trying to board a bus. The main secret of capturing the perfect street Photograph is a mocktail of emotion, technique and patience. Below are a few points you might want to follow while doing street photography.

Wear orioer Clothing- I know this may sound weird but try to dress with dull colours and blend in with the croud and take their pictures unnoticed.
Don’t think ,Just shoot- Many photographers have habit of asking pemission to take photoes on the street or telling them to “act natural”. Shoot first then you can ask for permission. Once you loose that moment you are very unlikely to get that again soon.
Don’t Stalk the People but their Pics- Try shooting with your camera hanging from around your neck. This will make eople think your not shooting images. A wide-lense would work prfect or this. Just to mention one the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5
Move ahead, Don’t Zoom- If you have an SLR preferably used a fixed lens as in a lens without a zoom. Keep your eye open and move where they take you. You will be disab;ed from interacting with people if you use a zoom lens and well will loose some image quality too.
Emotion- Try to find people displaying their passion or feeling. Use the interation people make with things or other peple to capture emotion in your picture.
Lesser the better- Carry the least equipment you  can. Preferably just you camera and a lens. Leave all the other stuff behind. Try to avoid even camera bags. Again, you have to blend with the crowd and not look like a photographer.
Have Patience- Try to capture things that are naturally interesting.Wait fot the perfect capture. You do not want to miss out some real cool pictures because you were off capturing something mediocre.
Well that’s enough of theory, Now just grab your camera and hit the streets.

In a Boathouse On the Backwaters Of Kerala

Kerala is very well known for its long stretch of inland backwaters. In turn these backwaters are a huge tourist destination and one of the main source is The House Boats. You can easily book in advances for these House Boats which vary in size from 1bedroom to 3bedroom. In the backwaters there are more than 800 of these House Boats. You can find the best deals for these boats here.

I too had a 1 night experience in this house boat named "Blue Lagoon"

Every site from inside the boathouse is absolutely amazing.

Chinese Fishing Nets

For the Chinese it may be quite a old site. But at Kerala, India the chinese fishing nets is a huge tourist spot with people from far places coming to see it in all its glory.
Though with advancement in technology this has become a primitive method of gathering it is still effective here.

A primitive style of using rocks as weight to pull the Chinese fishing nets back out of the water..

Churcehs Of Kerala

Kerala, the southern tip of India is a place of great beach and huge mountains. It is famous tourist spot. Accomodation here is easy to find but I would recommend atleast a one-night stay in a boat house.
Back to the topic..
Unlike any normal churches the churches in Kerala are unique having various sects. Some tourists may not even call it church. But the various sects of Christianity has given rise such churches.

In Kerala, everywhere you go you will find churches.

The interiors of some churches looked more like temples to me..

Sometimes its better to get up close and personal with your subjects..

If you own a Canon DSLR then a good macro lens would be CanonEF-S60mmf/2.8MacroUSM and if you are looking for a professional one which of course doesn't come cheap i would suggest the CanonEF 180mmf/3.5LMacroUSM. Well Nikon users on the hand can best use the NikkorADMicro105mm f/2.8 D.

The image below has been captured by the Nikon Coolpix L120

Goin' a lil' Abstract

Some abstract photography with a slow shutter speed and a torch.
Care should b taken while doing this as prolonged exposure to bright light directly on your image sensor will cause damage to your sensor. Keep A black chart paper in hand just incase to cover the sense if anyone suddenly shines some light in the room or around the area.

Vengurla

A lesser known place in India but if your lazy and laidback, this is your place.
It doesn't matter if you eat seafood or catch it.. Coz at Vengurla you get cheap seafood and is also a placce famous for fishing.

Vengurla also has a very beautiful stretch of beach that will make tear of your clothes and hit the water. ;)

The Hotels here are odd with each having only 10 rooms at the most giving more space for good service.

Fish, prawns, crabs, oysters.....

Streets Of Belgaum

Belgaum 10 years ago would just be a small village for cultivation. But now it has a booming economy. With people from all over India coming to Belgaum to do what Belgaum is known for- Shopping. You will get anything from cutlery to cars all at a cheaper rate than what you will normally get.

If your planning to stay at Belgaum and shop till you drop then a recommended hotel would be Hotel Adarsha Palace. Having just bee renovated this is hotel with spacious and well lit rooms at affordable rates with separate veg and non-veg restaurants. Another better options will be hotel Eefa a business class hotel for those with a deeper pocket.

Well, I'm not a shop-a-holic, thanks to that I get time shoot things like this..

Beach Of Ganpatipule

Ganpatiphule, a laidback place located in Maharashtra. It has a long stretch of sand suited. On one side of th beach is the crowded temple while on the other side is just nothing but sand.

A recommended hotel at a good budget is hotel Abhishek with good food as well as rooms. If have a high budget then you must try the 5 star Blue Ocean Resort. One thing to be taken note is during peak season hotels have to be booked in advanced.

Wherever you go you will find the atmosphere very relaxing..

The photo was clicked at the beach 1 evening.
